Flynn and Dill Double Up No. 9 Wilkes Men's Ice Hockey over Manhattanville
 
WILKES-BARRE – Donald Flynn (Randolph, NJ/) and Tyler Dill (South Lake Tahoe, CA/) each scored twice to help the No. 9 Wilkes University men's ice hockey team double-up Mnahttanville College 6-3 in United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) play from the Toyota SportsPlex on Saturday evening.
 
The Colonels improved to 8-1-0 in league play and 12-3-0 overall with the win.
 
Flynn opened the scoring at 7:07 of the first period with assists from Scott Mueller (Mount Juliet, TN/) and Nick Fea (Oak Ridge, NJ/).
 
After the Valiants were called for back-to-back minor penalties giving Wilkes a 5-on-3, Dylan Kuipers (Andover, NJ/) found the back of the net at 12:16 with a helper from Taylor Brierley (East Grand Forks, MN) while Flynn ended the second penalty early with a goal at 13:00 assisted by Tyler Barrow (Massapequa, NY/Saint Anthony's) and Fea. Manhattanville got on the board at 17:37 of the first before Billy Berry (Redding, CT/) sent Wilkes to the locker room with a 4-1 lead after scoring with under two seconds remaining getting helpers from Xavier Abdella (Albany, NY/) and Jay Gallagher (Reading, MA/).
 
The Valiants opened the second period scoring with a goal at 7:55 and cut the lead to 4-3 at 10:32 of the second before Dill got on the board with a goal at 19:35 of the period assisted by Gallagher and Berry. Dill finished the scoring with an unassisted goal at 1:26 of the third after blocking a shot from the point and racing down the ice for a goal with a defender draped on his back.
 
Nico Pidro (Cannonsburg, PA/) earned the win with 22 saves on 25 shots.
 
Wilkes was fantastic from the face-off dot, winning 49-of 70 face-offs (70 percent), led by 14 from Berry, 12 from Devon Schell (Scarsdale, NY/), and 11 from Flynn.
 
The Colonels return to action on Friday when they host King's for a 5:00 p.m. UCHC contest at the Toyota SportsPlex.
