Wilkes Women's Basketball Drops Road Contest at DeSales
CENTER VALLEY, PA – The Wilkes University Colonels traveled to face Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom leader DeSales Bulldogs Wednesday night.
The Colonels (5-11, 4-6) couldn't keep up with the Bulldogs (12-3, 10-0) as DeSales never trailed on their way to a 72-30 victory. The Bulldogs led at half 40-18 and started the second half on a 18-0 run to keep a comfortable lead on the Navy and Gold.
Three Bulldogs finished the evening with double-digit points, with Mikaela Reese finishing with a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds. Averi Jordan finished with a game-leading 18 points for DeSales. Wilkes shot 20.8 percent from the field and 11.1 from beyond the three-point arc.
The Colonels are set to return to action this Sunday as they play host to MAC Freedom foe Arcadia at the Marts Center. Tipoff is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. in a rematch against the Knights from earlier this season that saw the Colonels win 70-55.
