Buffalo State Keeps Offensive Pressure to Pass Wilkes Women's Ice Hockey 

BUFFALO, NY – Wilkes university women's ice hockey team finished their road matchup this weekend falling to Buffalo State 7-1 in non-conference competition. 

Wilkes would go 0-2-0 to begin their season while Buffalo State improves to 2-0-0 on the year. 

The Bengals got off to a hot start, scoring in the first two minutes as Vanessa Willick hit the net with Sage Running Rabbit and Lillian Adimey earning the assists. The Colonels would try to get on the board, as Emma Guzdek (Amherst, NY/), Rachel Morey (Buffalo, WY/), and Abby Miller (Webster, NY/) would all take shots at the net that would be saved by goaltender Jessica Ague.  

Buffalo would get a power-play goal as Rylee Garrow found the net with 8:22 into the first period, with Erica Greene and Adimey would get the assists on the play. 

The second period saw Buffalo State get two quick goals at the 1:03 and 2:19 mark into the period. Wilkes would eventually get on the board at the 4:09 mark, as Bella Kaczorowski (Anchorage, AK) would find the net as Morey assisted her, helping the Colonels cut into the Bengal lead to make the game 4-1. The second period would be scoreless for the midway portion of the game until Buffalo State once more got two goals at the 14:28 and 16:57 marks to extend their lead to 6-1 heading into the third period. 

The third period would be very quiet for most of the game, with only one goal coming into the 10:16 mark for the Bengals as they would get their lead to 7-1 and carry it to the end of the game. 

Morey led the Colonels with six shots and an assist on the day while also winning 13-27 faceoffs. Kaczorowski would have the lone goal for the Colonels on two shots. Quinn Rodefeld (Blaine, MN/) would have 7 faceoff wins out of the nine she took on the day. Goaltender Addy Olson (Naples, FL/) ended the day with 34 saves. 

Wilkes will continue their road contest as they will face Neumann University in a two-game series to start of United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) action, with the first matchup beginning on Friday, November 4 at 4:00 p.m.
