Powell, Ramos Earn Conference Player of the Week Honors
ANNVILLE, PA – Wilkes University juniors
Xavier Powell (Poughkeepsie, NY/Arlington) and
Angel Ramos (Allentown, PA/Parkland) were named Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Players of the Week honors for their performances running from November 7-13 as announced by the conference office this morning.
Powell earns his first conference weekly award of the season following a stellar performance behind center in which he led Wilkes to a 58-42 Mayor's Cup victory over King's. Powell enjoyed a career-day, throwing for 314 yards and tying a school record with six touchdowns through the air. The junior added 59 yards on the ground in Saturday's victory.
Ramos collects his second conference weekly award of the season as he was named co-defensive player honors after causing havoc in the King's backfield on Saturday afternoon. The defensive lineman posted a career-high four sacks and a forced fumble in the 58-42 win, while also adding eight tackles, including 4.5 tackles for loss.
The Wilkes football team finished their season with a 7-3 record.
