Wilkes Men's Swimming Sweeps Every Event to Earn Paynter First Win, 134-76 over Gallaudet
WILKES-BARRE – The Wilkes University men's swimming team earned head coach
Christopher Paynter his first career coaching victory as the team swept first place finishes in every event Saturday afternoon at the Wyoming Valley CYC Saturday against Gallaudet University. Wilkes earned the team win 134-76.

The meet began with the Colonels team of
Ashton Dainty (Scranton, PA/Scranton),
Liam White (Cortlandt Manor, NY/Walter Panas),
Shane Miller (Oneonta, NY/Oneonta), and
Stephen Verosko (Gainesville, VA/Patriot) winning the 200 Medley Relay race with a time of 1:54.28.
Dainty picked up three victories for Wilkes on the day as he won the 200 Freestyle with a time of 2:02.17 over four swimmers from Gallaudet. The first year swimmer also won the 50 Freestyle with a time of 25.00 in a six-swimmer field. He finished his day with a win in the 100 Backstroke with a time of 1:02.72.
Damian Jenkins (Archbald, PA/Valley View) won two events, taking first in the 50 Backstroke with a 32.39. The first year swimmer also won the 100 Freestyle finishing in 59.25.
Verosko won twice as well. The junior took first in the 50 Breaststroke with a 33.14 and then was first in the 100 IM with a 1:03.41.
White was the final Colonel to win twice on the day. He placed first in the 100 Butterfly with a 1:02.90 and first in the 500 Freestyle with a 5:55.71.
Rodrigo Luis Gabriel (Poughkeepsie, NY/Poughkeepsie) won the 100 Breaststroke with a time of 1:27.83.
Miller placed first in the 50 Butterfly with a 27.34.
Wilkes also won the 200 Freestyle Relay to end the meet over two Gallaudet teams. The team of Miller, Luis Gabriel, Jenkins, and Verosko finished in 1:48.09.
Wilkes improved to 1-8 overall with the victory while Gallaudet dropped to 0-6.
The Wilkes men's swimming team is off of competition until January 14th when the Colonels host Misericordia University at the Wyoming Valley CYC at 1:00 p.m.
