Wilkes Men's Swimming in 11th After Day 1 of the MAC Championships
YORK, PA – The Wilkes University men's swimming team completed day one action at the 2022 Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Championships on Thursday at the Graham Aquatic Center in 11th of 14 teams with 53 points.

Trey Harloff (Apex, NC/Apex Friendship) qualified into the C Final of the 200 IM during Thursday morning's prelim rounds as he qualified 23rd of 32 swimmers with a time of 2:07.96. In the C Final Harloff improved his time and placement by swimming his fastest time in the event this season. He placed second in the race to finish 18th overall in the event with a time of 2:03.67 and earned Wilkes seven team points in the process.
In the 200 Medley Relay the Colonels "A" team of
Shane Miller (Oneonta, NY/Oneonta),
Jared Weyandt (Reading, PA/Exeter Township Senior), Harloff, and
Keith Nissen (Bloomsburg, PA/Central Columbia) placed 12
th of 14 teams with a time of 1:45.89 to earn Wilkes 36 points. The Colonels "B" team of
Stephen Verosko (Gainesville, VA/Patriot),
Daniel Micozzi (Lindenhurst, NY/Lindenhurst),
Liam White (Cortlandt Manor, NY/Walter Panas), and
Chris Gowarty (Scranton, PA/West Scranton) was ninth of nine teams with a time of 1:55.89 but shaved six seconds off their seed time and earned Wilkes 10 more points.
In the morning prelims Miller and White each swam their best time of the season in the 500 Freestyle but did not advance to the finals. The same was true for Verosko in the 200 IM while Micozzi was just a tick off his season's best time.
Nissen swam his fastest 50 Freestyle time of the season in the prelims with a 23.70 but was unable to advance to the finals. It was the third fastest 50 Free time by any Wilkes swimmer this season.
The Colonels will return to the pool tomorrow for day two with the Friday Prelims starting at 10:00 a.m. and the Finals at 6:00 p.m.
