Fea Scores Twice in No. 9 Wilkes Men's Ice Hockey 2-1 UCHC Victory at Nazareth

ROCHESTER, NY – Nick Fea (Oak Ridge, NJ/) scored a pair of goals including the game-winner early in the second period as the Colonels held on to a 2-1 United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) victory at Nazareth College Friday afternoon.

With the victory the ninth-ranked Colonels improved to 16-4 overall and 13-2 in UCHC games. Nazareth fell to 7-13-2 overall and 6-8-1 in league contests.

Fea wasted little time putting Wilkes ahead in the first period taking a faceoff win from Donald Flynn (Randolph, NJ/) and depositing a shot into the goal just 5:35 into the frame.

The senior added his 12th goal of the season early in the second period, a tally that would prove to be the deciding goal, thanks to assists from Flynn and Tyson Araujo (Vineyard Haven, MA) on the play.

Nazareth used the extra attacker to net its lone goal in the game when Nick Charron scored with just over one minute left to play. The Golden Flyers continued with the extra attacker for the final fifty seconds, but Wilkes was able to hold on for the important league victory.

Wilkes outshot Nazareth 29-24 while winning 33-of-68 face-offs including 12 wins from Billy Berry (Redding, CT/) in the circle. Michael Paterson-Jones (Baldwinsville, NY/) returned to goal for Wilkes finishing with 23 saves to record the win.

Wilkes now preps for its biggest matchup of the season tomorrow when the Colonels welcome No. 2 Utica College to the Toyota SportsPlex at 5:00 p.m. Utica stands 19-2 overall on the season and remains in first place in the UCHC standings with two games remaining.
