Balanced Scoring Lifts Wilkes Women's Basketball Past Delaware Valley 64-49
 
DOYLESTOWN, PA – Four different Colonels reached double figures to lead a balanced attack as the Wilkes University women's basketball team posted a 64-49 MAC Freedom victory over host Delaware Valley University Saturday afternoon.
 
Wilkes improved to 7-13 overall and 6-8 in MAC Freedom games following the road win. Delaware Valley dropped to 6-13 overall and 2-13 in league contests.
 
The teams traded baskets throughout the first quarter before back-to-back-to-back three pointers put Wilkes ahead 18-7 with under a minute left to play in the frame. Brianna Horton (Verona, NJ/Verona) started the scoring followed by triples from Kendra Smith (Hughesville, PA/Hughesville) and Katelyn Kinczel (Highland Heights, OH/Mayfield).
 
The Colonels advantage grew to as many as 16 points midway through the second quarter as free throws from Julia Marino (Turnersville, NJ/Washington Township) followed by another triple rom Kinczel kept Wilkes ahead. Delaware Valley scored the quarters final points from the line as the Aggies trailed 32-19 at the break.
 
The Wilkes lead remained at 13 at the end of the third quarter as each team finished with 14 points in the stanza. Buckets from Marino and Kinczel kept the Aggies at bay as the lead ballooned 62-41 with under two minutes left in the contest.
 
Kinczel led four players in double fires with 12 points on 4-for-9 shooting including a pair of threes. Horton followed with 11 points, five rebounds and three assists. Marino and Smith each tallied ten points and combined for 16 rebounds.
 
Lauren Moretti topped three Aggies in double figures with a game-high 16 points and 11 rebounds. Jess Williamson and Hailey Keenan followed with 12 and 11 points respectively.
 
Wilkes hosts cross-town rival King's College Tuesday in its home regular season finale at 6:00 p.m. on Senior Night.
