YORK, PA – Junior Maddy Kinard (Dover, PA/Dover Area) set a new program record in the 100 Backstroke as she put the Wilkes University women's swimming team on the scoreboard during day three action at the 2022 Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Championships Saturday at the Graham Aquatic Center.

Kinard swam a 1:03.16 in the 100 Backstroke during the morning prelims to set the new record as she broke a time of 1:03.50 that her and also teammate Abby Keating (Spring Grove, PA/Spring Grove Area) had set. The swim placed her 18th of 47 swimmers as she qualified for the C Final.

In the C Final Kinard was able to break 1:03 as she yet again established the new school record at 1:02.47. The time was good for third in the race and 19th overall in the 100 Backstroke. Her six points put Wilkes on the team scoreboard in 14th place.

Kinard will return to the pool tomorrow for 200 Backstroke on the final day of the 2022 MAC Championships. The Sunday Prelims start at 10:00 a.m. and the Finals are at 6:00 p.m.
