Kinard Sets Second Wilkes Women's Swimming Record to Close Out 2022 MAC Championships

Maddy Kinard (Dover, PA/Dover Area) set a Wilkes University women's swimming program record in the 200 Backstroke to close out the 2022 Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Championships Sunday at the Graham Aquatic Center. Wilkes placed 14th.

Kinard swam a 2:19.49 during the 200 Backstroke prelims to set a school record. The time beat her season best mark by over five seconds and edged out teammate
Abby Keating's (Spring Grove, PA/Spring Grove Area) record of 2:19.60. The swim placed her 20th of 37 swimmers and into the C Final.
In the C Final of the 200 Backstroke Kinard swam a 2:23.45 to place seventh of the eight swimmers, earning two team points and officially 23rd overall.
Kinard scored eight total points at the 2022 MAC Championships and set two school records. She recorded the best 100 Backstroke time in school history yesterday.
Messiah University won the team title with 1,343.5 points. Stevens Institute of Technology placed second with 1,138 points and Widener University was third with 997 points.
Lycoming College junior Katherine Brown was named the 2022 David B. Eavenson Award as the MAC Women's Swimmer of the Year after recording 90 individual points with an NCAA 'B' cut time and a MAC overall/championship record.
Widener first year Mia Ruggiero was named the 2022 MAC Women's Swimming Rookie of the Year after recording 89 individual points.
Messiah head coach Katie McComb was named the 2022 MAC Women's Swimming Coach of the Year. It is her third MAC Coach of the Year honor.
