Wilkes Wrestling Concludes Dual Match Schedule with 28-10 Victory Over King's
WILKES-BARRE – The Wilkes University wrestling team concluded its dual match schedule taking seven of ten bouts including four extra-point victories on way to a 28-10 win at cross-town rival King's College Thursday night in Scandlon Gymnasium.
Wilkes improved to 10-5 overall following the road dual match victory while King's slipped to 2-17 overall on the season.
Austin Fashouer (Scranton, PA/West Scranton) began the match making quick work of Kyle Miller with a fall in 1:01 to give Wilkes a 6-0 lead. King's responded with back-to-back wins including a decision and major decision at 133 and 141-pouinds respectively to regain the advantage at 7-6 through three bouts.
Allen Kokilananda (Springfield, VA/Annandale) put the Colonels back ahead after his 149-pound bout winning 7-6 over Robert Zelinski.
Liam Flaherty (Needmore, PA/Southern Fulton) added a 3-1 decision at 157-pounds followed by
James Geiger's (Dallas, PA/Dallas) 13-5 major decision at 165 as Wilkes led 16-7 after six bouts.
Colton Babcock (Sweet Valley, PA/Northwest Area) dominated in an 18-0 technical fall at 184-pounds and
Cameron Butka (Scranton, PA/West Scranton) followed with a 10-7 decision before
Nevin Rauch (New Columbia, PA/Milton) sealed the Middle Atlantic Conference dual match win with an 8-0 major decision at heavyweight.
Wilkes finishes off the regular season on Sunday with a trip to Allentown, Pa. to compete in the Futures Mideast Tournament hosted by Muhlenberg College starting at 9:30 a.m.
