Wilkes Women's Ice Hockey Concludes Season with 4-1 Defeat Against LVC
 
WILKES-BARRE – The Wilkes University women's ice hockey team concluded its season with a 4-1 United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) defeat against visiting Lebanon Valley College Sunday afternoon at the Toyota SportsPlex.
 
The Colonels conclude their 2021-22 season with a 3-19 overall record and 3-17 in UCHC play. Lebanon Valley improved to 8-13-1 overall and 7-10-1 in league contests.
 
Lebanon Valley scored its first goal 14:07 into the first period when Grace Mayer notched her second goal of the season on a power play to give the Dutchmen a 1-0 advantage.
 
The advantage increased to two goals late in the second period when Jade Julius scored even strength with 3:51 left in the frame.
 
LVC then added two insurance goals early in the final period as Victoria Scurto netted a short-handed tally to push the lead to 3-0 with 15:41 on the clock then Katie Pounder found the back of the net two minutes later to give LVC a 4-0 lead.
 
Wilkes got on the board with :25 remaining when Kendall Castro (Killingworth, CT) and Abby Miller (Webster, NY) assisted on a strike from Rachel Morey (Buffalo, WY/).
 
Allyson Joly (Lincoln, RI) finished with 31 saves in net for Wilkes in her final game in goal. Olivia Magneson recorded 37 saves picking up her second win of the season.
 
Wilkes' two four-year seniors Castro and Joly were honored before the game for their hard work and dedication in laying the foundation for the Colonels women's ice hockey program. Head coach Earl Utter presented each senior with an hooray framed jersey.
