Wilkes Men's Lacrosse Falls at Neumann

ASTON, PA – The Wilkes University men's lacrosse squad continued the opening stages of their 2022 season as they traveled to face the Neumann Knights Sunday afternoon.

The Colonels (0-2) hung tough with the Knights (3-0) through the first half, but a 6-1 burst by Neumann in the third quarter put the Navy and Gold behind for good in a 16-7 loss.

The Navy and Gold went up early on Neumann with a goal from Cameron Krisko (Binghamton, NY/Chenango Valley) assisted by Eric Ormsby (Warwick, NY/Warwick Valley) at 11:53 in the first, followed by a Luke Palladino (Wantagh, NY/Wantagh) strike at 11:28.  The Knights replied with a pair of goals in twenty seconds at 6:48 and 6:28.  The teams traded goals to wrap up the quarter, with Ormsby assisted by Krisko at 3:29 and the Knights sneaking in one last goal in the quarter at 0:38 to enter the second period tied at three all.

Neumann struck first in the second at 5:44 before Alex Myers (Cortland, NY/Cortland) tied it back up at 4:32 with help from Palladino.  The Knights would take momentum into the locker room with a pair of unanswered goals and continued their barrage into the third period with an 8-0 run putting the game squarely in their control.  Dillon Kadis (McSherrystown, PA/Delone Catholic) stopped the bleeding with a goal at 0:06 in the frame.  The Knights outscored the Colonels 4-2 in the fourth, with Jacob Kudysch (Stratford, CT/Frank Scott Bunnell) got help from Ethan Weaver (Olney, MD/James Hubert Blake) at 3:44, while Kadis was assisted by Ormsby at 2:59.

Ormsby led the Colonels with five points and four ground balls.  Ryan Lasher (Warrenton, VA/Liberty) recorded 16 saves and a .500 save percentage in the loss.  Drew Conlon led the Knights with six points, including four assists and two goals.

The Colonels open their home slate at Schmidt Stadium Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. against the Rosemont Ravens.  The Navy and Gold are 2-0 in the live stats era against Rosemont, including an 18-5 victory back in 2018.
