Strong Fourth Quarter Lifts Lebanon Valley Past Wilkes Men's Lacrosse
ANNVILLE, PA – Host Lebanon Valley College broke open a two-goal game scoring six unanswered goals in the final quarter on way to a 17-9 non-conference victory over visiting Wilkes University Wednesday afternoon at Arnold Field.
Wilkes slipped to 4-4 overall following the defeat while LVC improved to 4-4 on the season.
The Colonels tied the game at seven early in the third quarter as
Eric Ormsby (Warwick, NY/Warwick Valley) scored his 18
th of the season off an assist from
Tucker Parmer (Ephrata, PA/Ephrata). LVC went on to score the next two goals before
Jacob Kudysch (Stratford, CT/Frank Scott Bunnell) notched his third tally of the season unassisted to cut the deficit to 9-8 with 6:54 left in the third.
Luke Palladino (Wantagh, NY/Wantagh) tied the game for the second time in the frame finding the back of the net off a helper from Ormsby with just over three minutes remaining in the stanza. The Dutchmen answered back scoring the final two goals of the period taking a two-goal lead (11-9) to the fourth.
From there it was all LVC as the hosts scored two quick goals early in the frame to push the advantage to 13-9 before three more goals over the next seven minutes put the game out of reach with the Colonels trailing 16-9 with 4:35 left to play. LVC added one more insurance goal with 2:12 on the clock before settling for the home non-league win.
LVC stormed out to a 4-0 lead in the opening quarter before
Ethan Weaver (Olney, MD/James Hubert Blake) put the Colonels on the board off an assist from Ormsby. The Dutchmen finished off the frame with a goal just as time expired to take a 5-1 lead after one.
Wilkes cut the lead to two at 6-4 with 9:02 left in the first half when Ormsby scored his first of the game thanks to a pass from
Austin Seames (Newton, NJ/Kittatinny Regional). After a LVC goal,
Luke Weakland (Sparks, MD/Hereford) and Kudysch scored back-to-back for the Colonels to cut the lead to 7-6 at the half.
Ormsby led all Wilkes scorers with five points on two goals and three assists. Palladino and Kudysch each tallied two goals.
Jake Bollinger topped all LVC players with a game-high six points on four goals and two helpers.
Ryan Lasher (Warrenton, VA/Liberty) played all 60 minutes in net for Wilkes finishing with 15 saves in the defeat. Nick Serrano earned the victory making 12 saves for LVC.
Wilkes returns home Saturday hosting Utica University at 1:00 p.m. at Schmidt Stadium.
