EDWARDSVILLE – The Wilkes University men's tennis team posted a 9-0 shutout over visiting Lycoming College Wednesday afternoon at the Ralston Athletic Complex.
 
Wilkes improved to 7-5 overall and 2-1 in MAC Freedom matches following the home victory. Lycoming slipped to 4-8 overall and remained winless in conference contests at 0-3.
 
The Colonels raced out to a 3-0 lead after doubles play before winning all six singles flights with five coming in straight sets.
 
The team of John Toussaint (Dallas, PA/Dallas Senior) and Nathanial Rathe (Lincoln, NE/Lincoln Southeast) won 8-3 at No. 1 before Cole Gibson (Pinecrest, FL/Miami Palmetto Senior) and Rodneil Senson picked up an 8-3 victory at No. 2. Connor Frey (Binghamton, NY/Chenango Valley) and Donovan Zong (Bethlehem, PA/Salisbury Township) closed out Wilkes' doubles wins 8-4 at No. 3.
 
Gibson took his No. 1 singles match 6-3, 6-2. Toussaint went 6-1, 6-2 at No. 2 and Rathe finished off No. 3 by the score of 6-0, 6-0. Senson, Frey and Drew Fiedler (Stroudsburg, PA/Stroudsburg) rounded out the Colonels singles winners with Senson's coming in the third set.
 
The Colonels return to the court Friday with a road matchup at The College of New Jersey at 1:00 p.m.
