Wilkes Men's Golf Finishes Third at Scranton Tri-Match
TUNKHANNOCK, PA – The Wilkes University men's golf team finished in third place at a tri-match hosted by the University of Scranton that included Marywood University Monday afternoon at Stone Hedge Golf Course.
Host Scranton took home first place with a team score of 310 besting Marywood by six strokes as the Pacers finished with a team score of 316. Wilkes rounded out the scoring with a combined 368 over the Par 71 course.
Cole Jungwirth (Bloomington, MN/Jefferson) led all Wilkes scorers carding an 83 on the day.
Michael Sherrick (Shickshinny, PA/Northwest Area) followed shooting an 86 while
Trevor DuBoff (Stony Point, NY/North Rockland) finished with a 98. Michael Gurska rounded out the Colonel finishers with a 101.
Teammates Matthew Fleming and Danny Harding of Scranton took home medalist honors posting a round-low 74 (+3). Paul Appolt of Marywood topped the Pacers with a 75 for third place overall.
Wilkes preps one more time before the MAC Freedom Championships on the weekend hosting King's College on Wednesday at Huntsville Golf Club at 1:00 p.m.
