DALLAS, PA – The Wilkes University men's golf team finished in fourth place after round one of the 2022 MAC Freedom Championships Saturday afternoon held at the Huntsville Golf Club.
 
The Colonels finished in fourth place of the nine-team tournament posting a team score of 335. Reigning MAC Freedom champions Stevens Institute of Technology topped all squads finishing with a team score of 300 over round one. Arcadia followed in second place at 315 while Misericordia shot four strokes better than Wilkes for third place at 331.
 
Michael Sherrick (Shickshinny, PA/Northwest Area) led the Colonels shooting a round-low 81 on the Par 72 course. Cole Jungwirth (Bloomington, MN/Jefferson) followed carding an 82 while Andrew Finke (West Milford, NJ/West Milford Twp.) finished with an 84. Mac Cocchi (88) and Trevor DuBoff (Stony Point, NY/North Rockland) (93) rounded out the Colonel scorers on the day.
 
Stevens Eegan McDermott shot a round-low 70 (-2) to finish first in the individual standings. Ethan Zawatski came in second with a two over 74 for Misericordia.
 
Final round play begins tomorrow (Sunday) starting at 11:00 a.m.
