Wilkes Women's Golf Seventh after Day One of MAC Championship
FLEETWOOD, PA – The Wilkes University women's golf team stands in seventh place out of 10 teams following day one of the 2022 Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Women's Golf Championship at Golden Oaks Golf Club Saturday.
Sarah Sorber (Hunlock Creek, PA/Northwest Area) led the Colonels contingent, tying for eighth place out of the 54 total golfers following round one. She shot a +12 (84). The 84 is the lowest score in program history at the MAC Championship event, besting her own 88 shot last season at the same course.
Wilkes sits seventh with a combined score of +106 (394).
Gwen MacConnell (Great Bend, PA/Blue Ridge) shot a +30 (102) to stand in a tie for 36th.
Marissa Korea (Duryea, PA/Pittston Area) shot a +31 (103) for her lowest round of the season as she is 38th.
Cassidy Taylor (Forty Fort, PA/Wyoming Valley West) shot a +33 (105) for 39th.
Alvernia University's Yupha Muzyka is the day one leader as she shot a +1 (73). Alvernia leads York College by two strokes 323 to 325 as they are +35 and +37 respectively.
The 2022 MAC Women's Golf Championship concludes tomorrow with round two action starting at 10:00 a.m.
