Wilkes Women's Cross Country Runs Personal Best Times at Lock Haven Invitational
LOCK HAVEN, PA – The Wilkes University women's cross country team previewed the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional course Saturday as the Colonels competed at the Lock Haven University Invitational at the West Branch Cross Country Course at the Stern Athletic Complex. Teams from across Division I, II and III competed in the race with Wilkes placing 31st of 34 teams but seeing five of its six runners set personal best times.
Results
The Colonels placed 31st with 923 team points from their five scoring runners. A total of 285 runners were in the Crimson 6k.
First year runner
Ali Elsesser (Schnecksville, PA/Parkland) paced the Colonels with a personal best 6k time of 25:06.7 as she finished in 184th place overall.
Abby Kuppinger (Syracuse, NY/West Genesee) registered a personal best time of 26:24.9 as she was scored in 223rd place. Just behind her was teammate
Regan Metz (Berwick, PA/Berwick) as she was 224th with a 26.25.9, her new career best time as well. First year
Emily Satnowski (Piscataway, NJ/Piscataway) also recorded her personal best time of 26:35.7 as she placed 231st. Rounding out the Colonels to score for the team in the race was
Courtney Negra (Colonia, NJ/Colonia) as she placed 248th with a time of 27:31.8.
Ashley Tomassacci (Jackson, PA/Blue Ridge) rounded out the Colonels participating with a time of 28:52.0 as she placed 261st with a personal best time for the first year runner.
Division I Cornell University placed first overall with 37 team points. Dickinson College was the top Division III program as they placed fifth with 199 team points. Jessica Hoffmann of the University of Scranton was the top overall finisher with a time of 21:15.4.
Wilkes is off the next two weekends before returning to the course to host the Blue & Gold Invitational for the first time ever at the Forty Fort Sports Complex on Friday, October 14 at 5:30 p.m.
