LEHMAN, PA – The Wilkes University men's golf team opened its 2022 fall season on Thursday afternoon dropping a 298-338 decision to the University of Scranton at the Huntsville Golf Club.
 
Max Cocchi (Ludlow, MA/Tilton School) led the Colonels carding a 78 (+6) on the Par 72 course. Cole Jungwirth (Bloomington, MN/Thomas Jefferson) followed shooting an 82 while Matthew Carlson (Delmar, NY/Albany Academy) made his collegiate debut finishing with an 86. Sam Hopkins (Honesdale, PA/Honesdale) (92) and Trevor DuBoff (Stony Point, NY/North Rockland) (93) rounded out the Wilkes finishers.
 
Scranton saw three of its five scorers place in the top three on the day including Stephen Butler's two under 70 to take home medalist honors.
 
Wilkes is back on the course Saturday hosting Penn State Wilkes-Barre at 1:00 p.m. at Huntsville.
