Wilkes Women's Volleyball Secures First Landmark Win in Straight Sets at Goucher

TOWSON, MD – The Wilkes University women's volleyball team saw three players recorded nine or more kills on way to a 3-0 Landmark Conference victory at Goucher College on Friday night. It marked the first Landmark victory for Wilkes this season in the teams' first meeting as conference foes.

Wilkes improved to 9-14 overall and 1-5 in Landmark matches while Goucher slipped to 3-15 overall and 0-4 in league contests.

The Colonels cruised to the three-set win by scores of 25-23, 25-16 and 25-16. The first set was a back-and-forth affair with neither team leading by more than four points throughout. A kill by Jenna Baron (Nanticoke, PA/Greater Nanticoke Area) and back-to-back attack errors by Goucher sealed the first set win for Wilkes.

Alexis Reedy (Palmyra, PA/Palmyra Area) began her great play at attack in the second set scoring points on three straight kills before kills from Sierra Hines (Wilkes-Barre, PA/Holy Redeemer) and Nicole Fitzpatrick (New Hampton, NY/Minisink Valley) put the set away as the Colonels took a 2-0 lead in the match.

Reedy continued her fine hitting in the third set collecting three kills before Hines and Hope Ousey (Exton, PA/Henderson) joined in on the action with two kills each giving the Colonels the nine-point set win and clinching the match.

Reedy led all hitter for Wilkes with a match-high 10 kills and .444 hitting percentage. Hines and Fitzpatrick each added nine kills. Hines and Ousey combined for 11 blocks. Alexa Cassel (Mount Joy, PA/Lower Dauphin) led the passing game with 26 assists and added three service aces.

Wilkes continues its southern trip tomorrow with a Landmark match at Catholic University starting at 1:00 p.m. in Washington, D.C.
