Dainty Helps Wilkes Men's Swimming to Split of Home Tri-Meet Against Stevenson and King's
WILKES-BARRE – Sophomore
Ashton Dainty (Scranton, PA/Scranton) was victorious in one race and placed second in another to help the Wilkes University men's swimming team to a tri-meet split with visiting Stevenson University and King's College on Saturday afternoon at the Wyoming Valley Catholic Youth Center (CYC). Wilkes defeated King's 105-49 and lost to Stevenson 111-61.

Wilkes is now 5-3 overall this season after picking up its second win over cross-town rival King's.
Dainty won the 50 Freestyle with a time of 23.63 as he defeated seven other swimmers in the race. Teammate
Owen Lewis (Ellicott City, MD/Howard) took third with a time of 24.55. Dainty's other individual race was the 100 Freestyle where he placed second of seven total swimmers with a time of 52.47. His teammates
Luke Donato (Westerly, RI/Westerly) and Lewis were third and fourth in the race with times of 55.11 and 57.09 respectively.
The day opened with Dainty helping the 400 Medley Relay team to a victory over King's and a disqualified Stevenson team. Dainty along with
John Evans (Wilkes-Barre, PA/Holy Redeemer),
Stephen Verosko (Gainesville, VA/Patriot), and Donato finished with a time of 4:04.73.
Mason McCoy (Essington, PA/Interboro) was second in the 1,000 Freestyle with a time of 11:27.77 which was over one minute faster than his seed time coming in. The first-year swimmer was also second of four swimmers in the 500 Freestyle with a finishing time of 5:46.78 which cut nearly six seconds off his seed time.
Verosko placed second of six swimmers in the 100 Backstroke with a time of 1:07.12.
Evans took second in the 100 Breaststroke with a time of 1:09.50.
The Colonels return to the pool to close out its fall semester portion of the schedule with a tri-meet next Saturday at Lycoming College and also featuring King's College again.
