Burlew and Tutko Win Races as Wilkes Women's Swimming Splits Home Tri-Meet Against Stevenson and King's

Emma Burlew (Effort, PA/Pleasant Valley) won the 1,000 Freestyle and 500 Freestyle while
Mina Tutko (Easton, PA/Easton Area) took first place in the 100 Breaststroke to help the Wilkes University women's swimming team to a tri-meet split with visiting Stevenson University and King's College on Saturday afternoon at the Wyoming Valley Catholic Youth Center (CYC). Wilkes defeated King's 73-40 and lost to Stevenson 133-52.

Wilkes is now 3-5 overall this season after picking up its second win over cross-town rival King's.
Burlew won the 1,000 Freestyle with a time of 12:12.02 which was just over seven seconds faster than her seed time in the event. She finished ahead of two Stevenson swimmers. She made it two wins on the day with a victory in the 500 Freestyle, again over two swimmers from the Mustangs, with a time of 5:53.39.
Tutko won the 100 Breaststroke with a time of 1:15.84 over a field of seven swimmers. Her teammates Burlew and
Brynn Ullerich (Omaha, NE/Marian) were second and third with times of 1:19.57 and 1:21.16 respectively. Tutko also took third of seven swimmers in the 50 Freestyle as she finished with a time of 28.66.
The Colonels 400 Medley Relay team of
Audrey Cornell (Clarks Summit, PA/Abington Heights), Tutko, Ullerich, and
Kiaya Daube (Scranton, PA/Holy Cross) shaved just over one second off their seed time to finish with a 5:03.42.
The Colonels return to the pool to close out its fall semester portion of the schedule with a tri-meet next Saturday at Lycoming College and also featuring King's College again.
