Swain Scores Twice, Jungwirth Nets OT Winner as Wilkes Men's Ice Hockey Wins 4-3 Over Chatham
 
WILKES-BARRE – Nick Swain (Jackson, NJ) continued his scoring tear with two more goals and Cole Jungwirth (Bloomington, MN/) netted the game-winner :57 into overtime as the Wilkes University men's ice hockey team completed the season sweep of visiting Chatham University with a 4-3 United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) victory Sunday afternoon at the Toyota SportsPlex.
 
Wilkes improved to 8-3 overall and 6-2 in UCHC play, pushing its win streak to four games. Chatham dropped to 3-7 on the year and 2-6 in conference games.
 
Swain continued his scoring tear notching his ninth and tenth goals of the season including the fifth straight game finding the back of the net. He has scored nine of his ten goals in the past five games.
 
Swain's first tally on the power-play tied the game at one 11:18 into the first period following a Chatham goal at 6:27. Billy Berry (Redding, CT) then made it 2-1 Colonels when he scored short-handed off assists from Jimmy O'Kane (Chicago, IL/Notre Dame Prep) and Joe Johnson (Midland, MI/) 2:39 into the second period. Chatham responded tying the game at two 6:50 into the second where the game would go into the final frame.
 
Chatham took its second lead of the contest with an even strength goal 15:53 into the third period. The Colonels rallied and found a way to tie the game with their second goal on the power-play coming from Swain yet again with helpers from Berry and Patrick Roginski (Shelby Twp., MI/) with :52 remaining to force the game into the extra session.
 
From there Jungwirth drilled home a shot :57 into overtime off assists from Berry and Cam Lowe (Lancaster, MA/) to seal the season sweep for Wilkes.
 
Chatham held a slim 37-35 shot advantage throughout, while winning 35-of-63 face-offs.
 
Michael Paterson-Jones (Baldwinsville, NY/) recorded the win in net recording 34 saves, his fourth straight victory in goal this season.
 
Wilkes continues UCHC play next weekend with two games at Alvernia University on Saturday (7:00 p.m.) and Sunday (4:00 p.m.) in Reading, Pa.
