Wilkes Men's Swimming MAC Championships Day Two Results

YORK, PA – The Wilkes University men's swimming team continued its competition at the 2023 Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Championships at the Graham Aquatic Center on Friday. The team earned 76 team points during Session 4.

Senior Liam White (Cortlandt Manor, NY/Walter Panas) participated in the C Finals of the 400 IM as he qualified in the morning with a 21st place finish of the 25 swimmers entered. In the prelim he swam a 5:07.97 which was over 11 seconds faster than his seed time coming in. White then placed sixth of seven swimmers in the C Final to earn four team points. He bettered his prelim time by over 13 seconds, finishing with a 4:54.41.

Junior Stephen Verosko (Gainesville, VA/Patriot) and senior Shane Miller (Oneonta, NY/Oneonta) placed 31st and 32nd in a field of 46 swimmers in the 100 Butterfly during the prelims Friday morning. Verosko finished in 57.80 and Miller in 57.96 as neither advanced to the Finals in the event.

To open the Finals in Session 4 the team of Verosko, White, Miller, and Ashton Dainty (Scranton, PA/Scranton) placed 11th of 13 A relay teams in the 200 Freestyle Relay to earn 38 team points. The Colonels finished the race with a time of 1:37.12 to beat their seed time by over two seconds.

The four swimmers then finished the night in the 400 Medley Relay by placing 13th of 14 A relay teams to earn 34 points. Dainty, White, Miller, and Verosko completed the race with a time of 4:01.96.

Wilkes is in 14th place with 110 points halfway through the 2023 MAC Championships.

The Colonels will be back in action tomorrow morning with Miller competing in the prelims of the 200 Butterfly and Dainty swimming in the 100 Backstroke prelims starting at 9:30 a.m. The night session of those events will start at 5:30 p.m.
