Miller and Dainty Earn C Final Placement for Wilkes Men's Swimming at MAC Championships Saturday

YORK, PA – The Wilkes University men's swimming team continued its competition at the 2023 Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Championships at the Graham Aquatic Center on Saturday as Shane Miller (Oneonta, NY/Oneonta) and Ashton Dainty (Scranton, PA/Scranton) each qualified for a C Final.

Miller qualified 20th in a field of 30 swimmers during the prelims of the 200 Butterfly to earn a place in the C Final. His prelim time was 2:10.97 which was nearly four seconds ahead of his seed time coming in. In the C Final Miller placed seventh of the eight swimmers which was 23rd overall for the event, earning Wilkes two team points. He swam the race in 2:12.82.

In the 100 Backstroke it was Dainty who qualified 18th to make the C Final. His prelim time was 57.04 as he bested his seed time by just over three seconds in the field of 36 swimmers. In the C Final Dainty placed fourth of eight swimmers, good for 20th overall and five team points. He finished just off his morning time with a 57.44.

Wilkes is in 14th place with 117 points following day three of the 2023 MAC Championships.

The Colonels will be back in action tomorrow morning with Dainty and Stephen Verosko (Gainesville, VA/Patriot) competing in the 100 Freestyle prelims and Liam White (Cortlandt Manor, NY/Walter Panas) in the 1650 Freestyle starting at 9:30 a.m. The night session on Sunday will conclude the 2023 MAC Championships and also feature the 400 Freestyle Relay with Dainty, Miller, Verosko, and White competing.
