Second Quarter Run Sends LVC Over Wilkes Men's Lacrosse 12-5
 
EDWARDSVILLE, -- Visiting Lebanon Valley College broke open a close game after one quarter scoring five unanswered goals in the second frame on way to a 12-5 non-conference victory over the Wilkes University men's lacrosse team Wednesday afternoon at Schmidt Stadium.
 
The Colonels slipped to 2-5 overall following the home defeat while LVC improved to 6-3 on the season.
 
LVC took an early 2-0 lead midway through the first quarter before Blake Billingsley (Ephrata, PA/Ephrata) found the back of the net for the first time this season to cut the lead in half after one.
 
From there it was five straight goals over the second 15 minutes of play as LVC took a 7-1 lead into the halftime break.
 
The scoring run continued into the third quarter with the advantage growing to 9-1 with 5:15 left in the stanza. Cameron Krisko (Binghamton, NY/Chenango Valley) ended the run when he scored off an assist from Henry O'Connor (Baltimore, MD/Dulaney) with 1:27 left in the third. Luke Weakland (Sparks, MD/Hereford) kept the Colonels in the contest scoring unassisted, his ninth of the season, early in the fourth quarter as Wilkes trailed 9-3.
 
Colby Opromolla (Patterson, NY/Carmel) made things even closer continuing the Wilkes scoring run with his sixth goal of the year at 12:46 to pull the Colonels to within five at 9-4.
 
LVC responded with back-to-back goals before Tucker Parmer (Ephrata, PA/Ephrata) closed out the Wilkes scoring with an unassisted tally with 1:11 left in the game.
 
LVC held a 47-33 shot advantage throughout with 24 coming on goal. The Colonels struggled to clear the ball from their defensive end finishing 18-for-26 in clearing attempts.
 
LVC also won the faceoff battle winning 14-of-21 attempts.
 
Joseph Marino (Swedesboro, NJ/Kingsway Regional) played the first half making five saves in net to suffer the loss. Caleb Miller (Mohrsville, PA/Schuylkill Valley) entered in the third quarter and played the final 30 minutes finishing with seven stops. Kellen Markley recorded the win in net for LVC making 12 saves.
 
Wilkes returns to action Saturday traveling to Utica University for a 1:00 p.m. non-conference matchup.
