Wilkes Men's Golf Finishes Seventh at MAC Freedom Golf Championship
LEHMAN, PA – The Wilkes University men's golf team finished in seventh place of nine teams finishing round two at the 2023 MAC Freedom Men's Golf Championships hosted at Huntsville Golf Club Sunday afternoon.
Wilkes shot a two-day total of 696 carding a 351 on day one followed by a 345 on day two. Stevens Institute of Technology took home its third straight MAC Freedom title posting a score of 607. Arcadia University finished second at 642 while King's College took home third place at 670.
Cole Jungwirth (Bloomington, MN/Thomas Jefferson) led all Colonels scorers finishing tied for sixth place for a two-day total of 158. Jungwirth was named Second Team All-MAC Freedom with the top ten finish.
Max Cocchi (Ludlow, MA/Tilton School) followed in 25
th place with a score of 176.
Trevor DuBoff (Stony Point, NY/North Rockland) took home 26
th place with a score of 177 while
Matthew Carlson (Delmar, NY/Albany Academy) (186, t-33
rd) and
Sam Hopkins (Honesdale, PA/Honesdale) (194, t-37
th) rounded out the Wilkes competitors.
Gus Vickers of Stevens was named MAC Freedom Golfer of the Year shooting the lowest score of the tournament at 149, his second consecutive individual title.
