Wilkes Women's Soccer Draws with Widener
EDWARDSVILLE - The Wilkes Women's Soccer team battled to a scoreless draw against Widener on Saturday afternoon at Bruggeworth Field.
The result moved the Colonels to 0-2-3 on the year while Widener moved to 0-2-4.
The Pride controlled the early part of the game, registering nine shots to only four for the Colonels. Hannah Landis (Red Hill, PA/Upper Perkiomen) saved five shots in the first 45 minutes of play for Wilkes.Â
The Colonels grew into the game in the second half and had the majority of offensive chances. Wilkes out-shot Widener 6-4 in the final half of play. Taylor Golin (Springfield, NJ/Jonathan Dayton) and Erin Edwards (East Greenville, PA/Upper Perkiomen) both had two shots in the period, leading the team.
Jess Shea (Somerset, NJ/Franklin) joined Golin and Edwards with two shots to lead the Colonels in that category for the game. Landis made seven saves total on the day. Alyssa Carman led Widener with four shots while goalkeeper Nicole Rende made three saves on the day for the Pride.
The Colonels will be on the road for their next contest, as they travel to face Albright College on Wednesday, September 20th at 7:00 p.m.
