DALLAS, PA – The Wilkes Universitu men's golf team opened its 2023-24 season finishing in second place at the Misericordia Tri-Match Tuesday afternoon at the Irem Country Club. The Colonels finished with a team score of 333 on the day. Host Misericordia finished in third place with a score of 356 while Marywood University took home first place by one stroke over Wilkes at 332.
 
Cole Jungwirth (Bloomington, MN/Thomas Jefferson) took home medalist honors carding a 78 on the afternoon. Max Cocchi (Ludlow, MA/Tilton School) followed with an 82 while Trevor DuBoff (Stony Point, NY/North Rockland) (86) and Brennan Reiner (Altamont, NY/Guilderland) (87) closed out the scorers. Sam Hopkins (Honesdale, PA/Honesdale) was the final Wilkes finishers posting an 89.
 
Colin Virkitis topped the Pacers with an 80 while Brett Herman finished with an 82 to pace Misericordia.
 
Wilkes returns to the course tomorrow (Wednesday) when the Colonels host King's College in its first play the Huntsville Golf Club for the season starting at 1:00 p.m.
