Wilkes Men's Soccer Upended 4-1 at Penn State Harrisburg
MIDDLETOWN, PA – The Wilkes University men's soccer team was on the wrong end of a 4-1 decision at Penn State Harrisburg Wednesday evening in non-conference action.
With the loss Wilkes fell to 1-2-0 on the season while Penn State Harrisburg improved to 1-1-1 overall with the home win.
The Lions gained a 2-0 lead in the first half with goals in the eighth and 20th minutes. Penn State Harrisburg then added two early second half goals in the 48th and 52nd minutes to build its lead to 4-0.
Xavier Guerreiro (Newtown, PA/Council Rock North) scored his team-leading third goal of the season to put the Colonels on the board in the 90th minute.
Will Wagstaff (Allentown, PA/Parkland) assisted Guerreiro on the play.
The Lions held a 13-7 advantage in shots and 11-4 lead in shots on goal throughout the contest. The hosts had four corner kicks compared to one for the Colonels.
Nick Kinzler (Jackson, NJ/Jackson Memorial) made seven saves for Wilkes while Shayon Kashi earned the win at goalkeeper for Penn State Harrisburg with three saves.
The Colonels continue a four-game road trip with game three on Saturday when they travel to face Arcadia University at 4:00 p.m. in Glenside, Pa. for a non-conference matchup.
