Dainty's Strong Day Helps Wilkes Men's Swimming to Win at Marywood as Part of Quad Meet
SCRANTON, PA – The Wilkes University men's swimming team was helped by a victory and second place finish by
Ashton Dainty (Scranton, PA/Scranton) in going 1-2 during a quad meet Saturday afternoon, defeating host Marywood University 115-82. Misericordia University defeated Wilkes 191-56 and St. Mary's College of Maryland won 151-69.
Wilkes is now 6-5 overall this season. The Colonels were coming off their winter training trip to Florida over the winter break.

Dainty earned an impressive victory when he placed first of 10 swimmers in the 50 Freestyle with a time of 23.36. He also placed second in the 100 Butterfly out of nine swimmers with a time of 57.82.
Owen Lewis (Ellicott City, MD/Howard) was third in the same race Dainty won, the 50 Freestyle, with a finish of 23.52.
John Evans (Wilkes-Barre, PA/Holy Redeemer) was fifth of 10 swimmers in the 100 Breaststroke as he finished with a time of 1:09.53.
Lewis and
Luke Donato (Westerly, RI/Westerly) took fourth and fifth respectively out of nine swimmers in the 100 Freestyle. Lewis had a time of 54.36 and Donato finished in 54.64.
The 400 Medley Relay team of Dainty, Evans, Donato, and
Stephen Verosko (Gainesville, VA/Patriot) opened the day with a time of 4:02.30 to place fourth of six teams.
The team ended the day with Donato, Dainty, Lewis, and Verosko placing second of six teams in the 400 Freestyle Relay with a time of 3:33.16.
The Colonels return to the pool next Saturday, January 20 hosting two Landmark Conference teams in Lycoming College and Juniata College at the Wyoming Valley CYC at 1:00 p.m.
