Wilkes Women's Swimming Defeats Marywood as Part of Quad Meet
SCRANTON, PA – The Wilkes University women's swimming team went 1-2 during a quad meet Saturday afternoon, defeating host Marywood University 89-88. Misericordia University defeated Wilkes 220-25 and St. Mary's College of Maryland won 134-73.
Wilkes is now 4-7 overall this season and turned a one-point loss to Marywood on October 28th into a one-point win this time around. The Colonels were coming off their winter training trip to Florida over the winter break.

Emma Burlew (Effort, PA/Pleasant Valley) finished third of nine swimmers in the 50 Freestyle with a finish of 27.23. Burlew was fourth of eight in the 500 Freestyle with a time of 6:02.77.
Mina Tutko (Easton, PA/Easton Area) was third in a field of seven swimmers in the 100 Breaststroke with a time of 1:16.20. She was fifth of 10 swimmers in the 100 Freestyle with a time of 1:03.22.
Brynn Ullerich (Omaha, NE/Marian) placed fourth of eight swimmers in the 100 Backstroke with a time of 1:10.27. She was also fourth of 10 swimmers in the 100 Freestyle with a time of 1:02.32.
The 400 Medley Relay team of
Audrey Cornell (Clarks Summit, PA/Abington Heights), Tutko, Ullerich, and
Kiaya Daube (Scranton, PA/Holy Cross) opened the day with a time of 5:01.61 to place sixth.
The team ended the day with Tutko, Daube, Cornell, and Burlew placing fourth of six teams in the 400 Freestyle Relay with a time of 4:26.34.
The Colonels return to the pool next Saturday, January 20 hosting two Landmark Conference teams in Lycoming College and Juniata College at the Wyoming Valley CYC at 1:00 p.m.
