Wilkes Field Hockey Closes Out Season with 4-1 Loss at Drew
 
MADISON, NJ – Host Drew University scored one goal in each quarter on way to a 4-1 Landmark Conference victory over the Wilkes University field hockey team Tuesday night at Ranger Stadium.
 
Wilkes concluded its 2024 season with a 3-15 overall record and 1-8 in Landmark play in its second season in the league. Drew improved to 10-8 overall and 4-5 in conference contests.
 
Drew struck first at 11:30 of the first quarter when Ellie Kopec found the back of the cage off a backhanded blast from the left elbow. Lauren Cagliostro made it 2-0 notching a goal off a Kopec assist at 27:45 of the second frame.
 
Emily Monaco extended the lead to 3-0 at 38:35 of the third quarter before Emma Lautenbacher (Bangor, PA/Bangor) scored her second tally of the season off a helper from Olivia Gayoski (Forty Fort, PA/Wyoming Valley West). Gayoski pushed a pass through from the right side that Lautenbacher tipped in to the left post side of the goal.
 
The Rangers added one more insurance goal in the fourth quarter with under two minutes remaining in the game to seal the conference home win.
 
Drew held a 16-3 shot advantage while garnering 17 penalty corners to Wilkes' six attempts.
 
Olivia Wickel (Whitehall, PA/Whitehall) finished with six saves in goal for the Colonels while Beth Kelly made two stops for the Rangers to record the win.
