Wilkes Women's Volleyball Fall Short in Elizabethtown Tri-Match
ELIZABETHTOWN, PA - The Wilkes women's volleyball team dropped both of their matches on Saturday at their trimatch in Elizabethtown. The Colonels faced both Elizabethtown and Alvernia.
Game 1 | Wilkes 0, Elizabethtown 3
The Colonels fell to Elizabethtown in three sets, with the scores being 25-16, 27-25, and 25-17. Sierra Hines (Wilkes-Barre, PA/Holy Redeemer) led the team in kills with 15, Jenna Baron (Nanticoke, PA/Greater Nanticoke Area) recorded four blocks, Alexa Cassel (Mount Joy, PA/Lower Dauphin) tallied 28 assists and Kendra Kalp (Somerset, PA/Rockwood) had 19 digs. The Colonels recorded more blocks than the Blue Jays and came close in digs.
Game 2 | Wilkes 0, Alvernia 3
Wilkes dropped their second match of the day in three sets, falling to Alvernia 25-17, 25-19, and 25-21. Hines again led in kills with 11 in this match, as well as in blocks with three. Cassel recorded 32 assists and nine digs. Ally Sheridan (Hanover Township, PA/Hanover Area) and Kalp both tallied eight digs. As a team, Wilkes had recorded more kills than the Golden Wolves with 30 compared to their 37, as well as in assists with 34 compared to their 33.
The Colonels will be playing at home this Monday, October 7 for their next match against Penn State Berks. The match is set to begin at 7 p.m.
