Wilkes Women's Swim Concludes Electric City Invitational

SCRANTON, PA - The Wilkes women's swim team competed in the Electric City Invitational on Saturday, recording five top ten finishes. The women concluded the Invitational in sixth place with 128 points.

The schools competing in the invitational along with Wilkes are King's, Messiah, Lycoming, Scranton, Cedar Crest College, and SUNY Oneonta.

On day one of the Invitational, the Colonels recorded four top ten finishes. In the 200 yard freestyle relay, the Colonels placed sixth with a time of 1:48.74. On the relay were Byrnn Ullerich, Lea McCormick (Northumberland, PA/Shiekellamy), Emma Burlew (Effort, PA/Pleasant Valley) and Grace Cobb (Athens, PA/Athens Area). In the 200 yard IM, Ullerich finished tenth with a time of 2:30.99. The Colonels finished in seventh in both the 200 and 400 yard medley relay, recording a time of 2:05.78 in the 200 yard and 4:37.99 in the 400 yard. On the relays were Ullerich, Cobb, McCormick and Burlew.

On day two, Wilkes added their fifth top ten finish, placing seventh in the 400 yard freestyle relay with a time of 4:02.50. On the relay were McCormick, Burlew, Ullerich, and Cobb. McCormick also placed 12th in the 200 yard backstroke on day two with a time of 2:52.20.

As a team, the men and women finished fifth with a combined score of 374 points. The Colonels will be competing next at Elizabethtown on December 7.
