Wilkes Men's Swimming Split Home Tri-Meet
WILKES-BARRE, PA - The Wilkes men's swim team split their tri-meet against King's and Stevenson on Saturday.
The Colonels beat Kings by a score of 152-62 and narrowly fell to Stevenson by a score of 112-121. Wilkes recorded seven first place finishes and two second place finishes.
In the 200 yard medley relay, Ashton Dainty (Scranton, PA/Scranton), Jacob Piotrowski (Old Bridge, NJ/Old Bridge), Alton Smargiassi (Bloomsburg, PA/Central Columbia) and Leo Miller (Oak Forest, IL/Oak Forest) placed first with a time of 1:45.79. In the 200 yard freestyle, Miller finished first with a time of 1:56.30 and Dainty finished first in the 100 yard backstroke by a time of 58.32. Smargiassi placed first in the 200 yard butterfly at 2:11.80.
In the 50 yard freestyle, Owen Lewis (Ellicott City, MD/Howard) finished in first at 23.61 and Luke Donato (Westerly, RI/Westerly) came in second with a time of 24.39. For the 100 yard butterfly, Smargiassi placed first by a time of 57.88 and Dainty followed in second place with a time of 58.49. Wilkes also finished in first in the 200 yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:35.18. On the relay was Miller, Dainty, Lewis and Donato.
The Colonels next meet will be November 22-24 at Marywood for the Electric City Invitational.
