D3football.com Names Four Wilkes Football Athletes to All-Region 2 Team
WILKES-BARRE – Wilkes University football saw four student-athletes named to the D3football.com 2024 All-Region Two team, as announced by the website this afternoon.
Defensive tackle
Angel Ramos (Allentown, PA/Parkland) and punter
Alex Orlando (Allentown, PA/Emmaus) were named to the second team, while running back
Elijah Jules (Red Bank, NJ/Red Bank Catholic) and defensive back
Donell Mackey-Woodson (Hartford, CT/Southington) were named to the third team.
Ramos led the team in sacks for the second straight year, earning his second-consecutive All-Landmark First Team selection. The senior got to the quarterback a conference-best eight times with 14.5 tackles for loss, also a conference-best mark. This is Ramos' second All-Region accolade after being named to the first team in 2023.
Orlando etched himself in the Wilkes record books in 2024, also earning First Team All-Landmark honors. The senior led the conference with an average punt distance of 43.1 yards and 15 punts inside the 20-yard line. He also added five punts of over 50 yards to that tally, and took possession of the career punting yards record in Wilkes' Internet Era (since 2004) at 6,345 yards. This is his first All-Region selection.
Jules makes his second career appearance on the All-Region team after his most productive season as a Colonel in 2024, rushing for a conference-best 1,289 yards and 20 touchdowns, becoming Wilkes' leading rusher in the internet era (since 2004). Jules also led the conference averaging 128.9 yards per game. The senior back rushed for over 100 yards in each of the last seven games of the season, dating back to the victory over St. John Fisher University in September. He was also selected First Team All-Landmark for his play this season.
Mackey-Woodson earned the first All-Region honors of his career after snagging a conference-best seven interceptions with eight pass breakups this season. Mackey-Woodson also had three pick-sixes on the year, including the game-winning return against St. John Fisher. The senior was named to the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Division III Coaches' All-America Second Team, First Team All-Landmark, and was named to the D3football.com Team of the Week once.
This marks the third consecutive season that Wilkes has had All-Region selections, and the first time since 2005-07.
The teams, selected in balloting by Region 2 sports information directors and D3football.com staff, were chosen from 247 nominations by full Division III member schools. A total of 81 players were chosen. Players nominated for All-Region are eligible to be considered for D3football.com All-America honors, which will be announced Thursday, Jan. 2, 2025.
