Wilkes Men's Basketball Cruises Past Lycoming in 87-64 Victory
WILKES-BARRE, PA - The Wilkes mens' basketball team added another win to their season tonight, defeating Lycoming 87-64.
The Colonels dropped 40 points in the first half and added 47 more in the second to dominate Lycoming in their third conference game of the season. Lucas Lesko (Northampton, PA/Northampton) led the team in points with 20, followed by Jack Argento (Hershey, PA/Hershey) with 15 and Joey Zvorsky (New Cumberland, PA/Cedar Cliff) and Daniel Santaniello (Roaring Brook Twp., PA/Scranton Prep) who each had 11. Santaniello's 11 point game is a career high for the first-year. Lesko also led in rebounds with nine. Argento recorded eight and Cayden Merrifield (Scranton, PA/West Scranton) had six. Merrifield led in assists with five and Zvorsky followed with four. Lesko recorded two blocks and Zvorsky tallied three steals.
In the first half, the Colonels shot 43.59% from the field, 22.22% on three point shots and 66.67% from the free throw line. In the second half, Wilkes improved to shooting 50% from the field and on three point shots as well as 69.23% from the free throw line.
Wilkes scored 22 of the points off turnovers, 25 from second chance points, 25 bench points, 12 fast break points and 46 points in the paint to give them a 23 point lead over the Warriors.
The Colonels will be on the road this Saturday, December 7, for another Landmark match. Wilkes will be taking on Juniata with tip off set for 4 p.m.
