Wilkes Men's Swimming Closes 2024 at Elizabethtown
ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. – The Wilkes University men's swimming team finished hit the pool for the last time in 2024 as they competed against fellow Landmark Conference squad Elizabethtown College at Alumni Pool on Saturday.
Alton Smargiassi (Bloomsburg, PA/Central Columbia) picked up the Colonels' first win of the day in the 100 butterfly with a time of 55.57, and finished second in the 100 free with a time of 52.67.
Jacob Piotrowski (Old Bridge, NJ/Old Bridge) earned the second win of the day in the 100 backstroke with a time of 58.94, while
Leo Miller (Oak Forest, IL/Oak Forest) also reached a podium position with a third-place finish with a time of 1:01.09.
In the 500 free,
Ashton Dainty (Scranton, PA/Scranton) picked up the third win of the day for Wilkes with a time of 5:26.77, and the team rounded out the day with a win in the mixed 100 freestyle relay with the team of
Owen Lewis (Ellicott City, MD/Howard), Lea McCormick, Dainty, and Emma Burlew, finishing at 47.13.
Wilkes hits the pool again in the new year as they host Misericordia University on Sunday, January 12 at the Wyoming Catholic Youth Center (CYC) at 11:00 a.m.
