Wilkes Men's Swimming Sixth After Day Two of Landmark Conference Championships
BALTIMORE, MD – The Wilkes University men's swimming team completed day two of the Landmark Conference Swimming & Diving Championships at the Mangione Aquatic Center on the campus of Loyola University Maryland on Friday. Wilkes is currently in sixth place out of 10 teams with 52 points.

The Colonels saw five of their six swimmers compete in individual events during the morning preliminary swims. The top eight swimmers in each prelim advanced to the night's Finals in the A Final and swimmers that placed ninth through 16th made the B Final.
Mason McCoy (Essington, PA/Interboro) was 23rd of 30 swimmers in the 500 Freestyle with a time of 5:30.99 which was over 15 seconds faster than his seed time in the event.
In the 200 IM,
Stephen Verosko (Gainesville, VA/Patriot) placed 18th of 25 swimmers with a time of 2:08.57 which was over 11 seconds faster than his previous time this season.
In the 50 Freestyle,
Owen Lewis (Ellicott City, MD/Howard) was 19th of 50 swimmers with a time of 22.88 which was better than his seed time of 23.42.
Ashton Dainty (Scranton, PA/Scranton) was 21st with a time of 23.03 which beat his 23.36 seed time.
Luke Donato (Westerly, RI/Westerly) placed 23rd with a time of 23.18 to eclipse his seed time of 24.73 by over one second.
During the Finals session at night the Colonels competed in the 400 Medley Relay with the team of Dainty,
John Evans (Wilkes-Barre, PA/Holy Redeemer), Verosko, and Lewis shaving over 11 seconds off their time to finish in 3:50.70 and take sixth place out of seven teams.
Wilkes is back in action for day three starting with the preliminary rounds of the 400 IM, 100 Butterfly, 200 Freestyle, 100 Breaststroke, and 100 Backstroke at 12:15 p.m. after the time was pushed back due to morning inclement weather. The Finals on Saturday night, which start at 6:00 p.m., feature the 200 Freestyle Relay.
