ROCHESTER, NY – The fifth seeded Wilkes University women's ice hockey team concluded its historic season with a 4-0 loss at No. 1 seed Nazareth University in the United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) Semifinals at Tim Horton's Iceplex Saturday afternoon.

Wilkes finished the season with an 18-7-2 overall record. The team made the postseason for the first time in program history and won its first postseason game in the UCHC Quarterfinals.

Nazareth, who is receiving votes in the latest USCHO.com national poll, improved to 21-5-1 overall and advanced to host the UCHC Championship next Saturday.

The Golden Flyers scored twice in the first period on tallies by Sydney Gurlea and Allie Zack. Nazareth added two more goals in the second period off the stick of Ivey Lyden on the power play and Alexis Kindred. The third period went scoreless for both teams.

Nazareth controlled the scoring chances in the contest and held a 38-11 advantage in shots on goal. Audrey Milne (London, ON) made 34 saves with a strong game in net for the Colonels. McKinley Hoff posted an 11-save shutout.

The Golden Flyers won the faceoff battle 27-20 but Jordan Ferry (Bohemia, NY) won 14-of-25 of her chances.

Ferry, Lily Zingaro (Collingwood, ON), and Chayce Hyndman (Mountain, ON) all led Wilkes with two shots on goal while Ferry led the team with two blocked shots.

The Colonels went 0-for-1 on the power play while the Golden Flyers were 1-for-2.

The Dave LaBaff led team will take its momentum from a historic 2023-24 season and look to build upon its successes for 2024-25 when Wilkes rejoins the Middle Atlantic Conference for ice hockey.
