EDWARDSVILLE, Pa. – The Wilkes women's lacrosse team were defeated at Schmidt Stadium on Wednesday night, as they fell 20-5 against DeSales University.

The Bulldogs opened the scoring with two goals to take the early lead, but Maleah Cobham (Westbury, NY/W.T. Her first goal was unassisted a man-up, and the second was assisted by Ava Ward (Mount Pleasant, SC/Bishop England).

DeSales responded with 14 unanswered goals, holding a 16-2 lead in the third before Alexis Guttilla (Staten Island, NY/St. Joseph by-the-Sea) scored her first goal of the season to make it a 16-3 game, assisted by Sam Mullen (Dover, PA/York Catholic). Cobham completed her hat trick with an unassisted goal with 3:42 left in the third quarter to make it 16-4.

Cobham made it four with the final goal of the game, a man-up goal assisted by Guttilla to make it a 20-5 contest.

Cobham led the Colonels with four goals and six shots on goal, while Guttilla added two points with her goal and assist. Ava Ward (Mount Pleasant, SC/Bishop England) shared the team-high in ground balls with two and led in caused turnovers (3) and draw controls (4).
