Wilkes Men's Volleyball Takes Two at Wells Tri-Match Tying Single Season Wins Mark
 
AURORA, NY – The Wilkes University men's volleyball team took both of its matches on the day posting a 3-1 victory over Carlow University before besting host Wells College 3-0 in a tri-match Saturday afternoon.
 
Wilkes improved to 18-8 overall following the pair of wins, tying the single-season record for victories in the process with three matches left on the 2024 schedule.
 
After Carlow took the first set 25-23, Wilkes responded with three straight wins by scores of 25-13, 25-16 and 25-11. Jackson Shafer (Milford, PA/Delaware Valley) (19) and Paul Binner (Tunkhannock, PA/Tunkhannock) (15) led a potent attack for the Colonels combining for 34 kills, five blocks and 11 digs. Zach Shay (Bethlehem, PA/Freedom) led the passing game with 20 assists while Noah Taylor (Lumberton, NJ/Rancocas Valley Regional) finished with seven kills and a team-high seven digs.
 
The Colonels made quick work of the host Wells winning in straight sets 25-20, 25-17 and 25-23. Lucas Mages (Buffalo, NY/Iroquois Central) topped all attackers with 11 kills, Shafer followed with 10 kills and four digs while Taylor tallied seven kills and a team-best eight digs.
 
Wilkes finishes off its home schedule on Wednesday when the Colonels host Drew University at 7:00 p.m. at the Marts Center.
