Wilkes Men's Soccer Ranked Ninth in Landmark Preseason Coaches' Poll
TOWSON, MD - The Wilkes University men's soccer team has been selected to finish ninth in the 2024 Landmark Conference Coaches' Preseason Poll released by the conference office this afternoon.
The Colonels earned 19 points in their first appearance in the annual survey of Landmark coaches. Wilkes completed their first year competing in the Landmark Conference last year, finishing with an overall record of 3-8-5, and went 1-6-2 in conference play under head coach Michael Piranian.
Catholic University took the top spot once again this year with 80 points, with Drew coming in second with 68. In a tie for third are Lycoming and Scranton with 57 points and Elizabethtown followed in fifth with 48 points. In sixth is Moravian with 43 points and Goucher closely behind with 40. To round out the last poll are Juniata, Wilkes and Susquehanna with 20, 19, and 18 points respectively.
Wilkes will be opening their 2024 campaign on Friday, August 30 with a 4:30 p.m. matchup against Marywood in Scranton. The Colonels will face their first landmark foe on September 28 in Selinsgrove to take on Susquehanna in a 3:30 p.m. match.
