Wilkes Women's Cross Country Opens Season Seventh at Misericordia Invitational

DALLAS, PA -- The Wilkes University women's cross country team opened the 2024 season by placing seventh of 11 teams in a 4k race at the Misericordia Invitational at Letterkenny Field Friday evening in Dallas, Pa.

The Colonels, under the direction of second-year head coach
Paul VanLuvender, scored 196 points from its five runners which placed them seventh overall in a race that featured 88 total runners from 11 different institutions. Eight schools had at least five runners to compete in the team event.

Ava Bailor (York, PA/Red Lion) made her collegiate debut in fine fashion finishing 21
st overall to lead all Colonels with a time of 17:01.80.
Regan Metz (Berwick, PA/Berwick Area) followed in 40
th place with a time of 18:30.50 while
Mikayla Miller (Wyoming, PA/Dallas Area) took home 42
nd with a time of 19:19.30.
Courtney Negra (Colonia, NJ/Colonia) (44
th/19:59.20) and
Mara Adams (Mehoopany, PA/Tunkhannock Area) (49
th/21:55.60) rounded out the Wilkes scorers at the event.

Host Misericordia University won the team event with a score of 26 points. The Cougars Grace Gallagher placed first overall with a time of 15:06.80.

The Colonels will head back to Dallas, Pa. to compete at the Cougar Classic on Saturday, September 14.
