Wilkes Women's Volleyball Falls to Albright in Five
WILKES-BARRE - The Wilkes women's volleyball team fell to Albright on Thursday evening with a final score of 3-2 after a hard fought five sets.
After falling to the Lions in the first set 25-17, the Colonels began a rally for the lead. Wilkes took the second set 25-23 and the third set 25-21. In what could have been a deciding set for the Colonels, they fell 25-21 in the fourth set. Despite a strong team effort by the Colonels, the fifth set ultimately led the Lions to the win, with the set score being 15-10.
Leading in points for Wilkes were Sierra Hines (Wilkes-Barre, PA/Holy Redeemer), Ally Sheridan (Hanover Township, PA/Hanover Area), and Jenna Baron (Nanticoke, PA/Greater Nanticoke Area) each with 10 kills. In assists, Alexa Cassel (Mount Joy, PA/Lower Dauphin) recorded 27 throughout the match, and Kendra Kalp (Somerset, PA/Rockwood) tabbed 30 digs.
The Colonels will be at home this Saturday, September 21, playing in a tri-match. They will face Bard at 12 p.m. and Penn State Abington at 4 p.m.
