Wilkes Women's Volleyball Drops Contest to John Jay College
NEW YORK, NY - In their second match of the year, the Wilkes University women's volleyball team fell 3-1 to John Jay College on Thursday night.
The Colonels dropped the first set 14-25, and the second set 18-25. Wilkes' continued efforts granted them a third set victory with a score of 25-22, but were not able to maintain their offensive efforts, losing the fourth set 12-25.
Sierra Hines (Wilkes-Barre, PA/Holy Redeemer) led the Colonels in kills with 13 and Alexa Cassel (Mount Joy, PA/Lower Dauphin) led in assists with 25. Four Colonels recorded double digits in digs, with Alexis Reedy (Palmyra, PA/Palmyra Area) leading with 15, followed by Kendra Kalp (Somerset, PA/Rockwood) with 12, Cassel with 11 and Emma Sanford (Las Vegas, NV/Arbor View) with 10.
Although Wilkes had a .125 hitting percentage over the Bloodhounds .100, the Colonels were unable to capitalize on a victory in the second set, they were able to rebound in the third set with a .100 hitting percentage over John Jay's -.023.
The Colonel's next matchup will be on Tuesday, September 10th on the road at Penn State Hazleton, with match time scheduled for 7 p.m.
