Bouchard's Late Winner Helps Wilkes Women's Ice Hockey to 3-2 Win at Arcadia

COLMAR, Pa. – The Wilkes women's ice hockey team handed MAC leaders Arcadia University their first conference loss of the year on Friday afternoon, defeating the Knights 3-2 at Hatfield Ice Arena.

The Colonels improve to 9-4 on the year with a 7-2 record in conference play, while Arcadia fall to 10-2 on the year with an 8-1 record against conference opponents.

After an evenly contested first period that saw no goals, Renee Ng (Hong Kong, China/Mount Academy) lit the lamp first with a power play goal five minutes into the second period. Arcadia scored soon after at 6:41 off the stick of Phoebe Roberts to even the score once again.

Roberts scored her second of the day later in the period to give the hosts their first lead of the day, but less than one minute later Bella Kaczorowski (Anchorage, AK/NAHA White) snuck a shot past the Knights goaltender to tie the contest 2-2.

As the two teams traded shots back and forth through the third period, Haylee Bouchard (Sioux Lookout, ON) guided the puck into the back of the net at 16:19 to put the Colonels back in front 3-2. Audrey Milne (London, ON) and the Wilkes defense kept Arcadia from equalizing again and took the massive road victory.

Megan Bell (Waterloo, ON) led the Colonels with nine shots on goal. Chayce Hyndman (Mountain, ON), Savanna Maxon (Anchorage, AK/Alaska All-Stars), and Ainsley Wescott (Saco, ME/) picked up assists on the three Colonel goals, with Maxon and Wescott leading the team in plus minus at +2. Hyndman led the team with five blocked shots. In goal, Milne made 33 saves.

Roberts led the Knights with two goals and seven shots, while three different players registered assists. In goal, Hannah Bergeron made 32 saves.

The Colonels return to the Hatfield Ice Arena tomorrow to complete the weekend series with the Knights. Puck drop is set for 3:30 p.m.
