Wilkes Men's Ice Hockey Falls 3-2 in Overtime to Wentworth in Consolation Game of the Comfort Inn Complex Winter Classic
 
PLATTSBURGH, NY – Wentworth broke through 3:08 into overtime to post a 3-2 victory over the Wilkes University men's ice hockey team Sunday afternoon in the consolation game of the Comfort Inn Complex Winter Classic hosted by Plattsburgh State.
 
Wilkes fell to 9-5 overall following the overtime defeat. Wentworth improved to 5-8-2 overall on the year.
 
Ian Worthley put Wentworth on the board 7:55 into the first period before Christian Blomquist (Wauwatosa, WI) answered back five minutes later thanks to assists from Christopher Paige (Massena, NY) and Cole Jungwirth (Bloomington, MN).
 
The teams skated a scoreless second period before Goeroge Kolovos gave Wentworth the advantage for the second time in the game 5:18 into the third period. Wilkes broke through and tied the game with under two minutes left in regulation as Miles Harrington (McDonough, GA) scored the equalizer off helpers from Jungwirth and Blomquist.
 
Kolovos then became the hero notching his second goal of the game 3:08 into the overtime period to give Wentworth the non-conference victory.
 
Duncan Rolleman (New Hamburg, ON) finished with 25 saves in the loss for the Colonels in net. Jack McGovern made 46 stops for Wentworth earning the win.
 
Wilkes held a 48-28 shot advantage while winning 36-of-66 faceoffs.
 
Wilkes returns to Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) play on Friday when the Colonels travel to Neumann University for a matchup starting at 7:00 p.m.
